Do SDHC card readers work with Vista OS?

I have read conflicting info regarding the ability of Vista to be able to read SD HC SD cards. Some say it's impossible, others say using an SD HC card reader works. Just bought a Canon 300 HS and need this info in order to buy the correct type of SD cards for use with my computer.
