WOMEN (OBGYN related )-- HAs anyone had (IUD) mirena implanted?? And had any bad side effects... ?

I am a nurse in a labor and delivery unit . Almost all of us ( the nurses) have mirena. I just had mine placed last month, and yes it was very painful. But, once placed, outside of a little cramping, it is fine. I even went right back to work. There is a small chance it can poke a holes in your uterus, but the benefits far outweigh the risks for us. The most common side effect is little to no period while it is there. And once you decide to have another baby, you just have it removed. All in all ... I highly recommend it.
