Will we ever see Meredith on the show?

We who watch The Vampire Diaries on the CW based on the books know that there are only 2 more episodes left of season two. I also know that the CW has picked up the show for 3rd season. My question is will we fans ever gets to see the character Meredith from the books on the show?
