Is there such thing as an independent or is it an imaginary term?

as far as i am concerned, one either represents people in poverty who are the majority in the world or the rich and/or the elites who are the minority. most people lean one way more than the other. even if we ume one is right in the middle 50/50 and takes no sides, he or she is necessarily helping the powerful. the non-action only proves conformity and acceptance of the status quo . it is the powerless who needs all the support it can get since the only way it can threaten the powerful is in a collective manner.there are no independents; we all influence one side more than the other by our actions and non-actions as well! what do you think?
